Emirates Health Services Provides Smart Digital Channels for Mental Health
Boosting the effective legislation and controls various EHS digital channels support access to mental health and awareness
As one of its top priorities, Emirates Health Services (EHS) is leading efforts to promote mental health through the provision of comprehensive and integrated mental health support services within the framework of the effective policies, legislation and controls in place.
Using modern technologies, EHS employs several channels within its smart digital services system in addition to hotlines and social media platforms to ensure the provision mental health support to all members of the community.
Dr. Noor Al Muhairi, Director of the Mental Health Department, EHS, highlighted the remarkable progress achieved by the EHS digital channels in strengthening communication with the public and introducing them to the services provided by EHS hospitals and health care centers. Dr Al Muhairi added that EHS provides high standards of health care and mental health services within a system of smart technologies based on artificial intelligence (AI).
“Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital, which is part of our network, provides pateints with a number of channels that allows them to benefit from its health services, while preserving their privacy, and encouraging patients to engage and benefit from the highly efficient smart services at the hospital,” Al Muhairi added.
Quality Digital Platforms
Digital channels accessible to all include the “Speak and be Heard” helpline which operates daily from 9 am to 9 pm toll free on 8008877. The helpline provides counseling and psychological support over the phone, text messages and email on Alamal.consultations@ehs.gov.ae
Various awareness programs, in line with the National Strategy for Wellbeing 2031, are available on EHS platforms are aimed at improving the quality of life, wellbeing of patients and to increase community and social awareness of mental illness, through media engagements and its official platforms in various social media.

Largest Mental Health Facility
Designed according to the best international standards and psychiatric practices, Al-Amal Psychiatric Hospital is the largest mental health care facility in the United Arab Emirates. The facility includes six Clinical Academic Groups (CAGs) and emergency services, each equipped with an integrated team that includes psychiatrists, consultants, psychologists, and social workers. Support services are also provided through a team speech therapists, occupational therapists and physical therapists in addition to family physicians and medical practitioners.
Specialized mental health services are provided through the six CAGs and under each group outpatient care services, inpatient care services, and community mental health services are provided including home visit teams, a day care center. A network of community mental health clinics are present across EHS Primary Care Centers. Furthermore, psychiatric emergency services to receive cases from the Emirate of Dubai and the Northern Emirates are available 24 hours a day.
The hospital provides, under its Clinical Academic Groups, Adult Psychiatry services which include inpatient and outpatient services, emergency services, community services, electroconvulsive therapy services, and a rehabilitative day care service that provides psychosocial and occupational rehabilitation programs for patients with chronic mental illnesses.
The hospital furthermore provides Child and Adolescent Psychiatry services for patients under the age of 18 years. The outpatient clinic operates seven days a week, except on official holidays. and above, through the outpatient clinic, on all days of the week, except for official holidays also provides an evening clinic every Monday.
Senior Citizens Psychiatric Services are provided for of patients above 60 through an outpatient clinic open seven days a week, except official holidays.
The hospital also provides an Addiction Treatment Centre for adults aged between 18 to 60 years old with male and female inpatient departments. Psychiatric services for People of Determination includes evaluation and care services for adults of determination in outpatient and inpatient departments for both sexes.
Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital also hosts a Forensic Medicine department.
Hospitals and Healthcare Centers
Mental health services are available at Kuwait Hospital, Al Qassimi Hospital for Women and Al Qassimi Hospital in Sharjah, as well as Khorfakkan Hospital, Ibrahim Bin Hamad Obaidullah Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah , Fujairah Hospital, and Masafi Hospital through outpatient clinics that can assess and treat patients by multidisciplinary teams, and through the Mental Health E-Clinic service.
Furthermore, 39 EHS Primary Care Centers provide mental health services to the community across six emirates, where services include psychological assessment, case follow-up, treatment, counseling, psychological and family guidance, support and social empowerment.
